Feast your eyes on This Rolex “RCO” Paul Newman Daytona reference 6263 has set a new world record for the most expensive Daytona ever sold at auction. All told, the watch sold for an atmospheric $1,089,186 USD when the bidding ceased at Christie’s auction last night. So what makes this watch so special? This “RCO” is believed to be the only authentic Daytona with a black Paul Newman dial and screw down pushers. Some say its most distinguishing feature is that the dial reads “Rolex Cosmograph Oyster” instead of the traditional “Rolex Oyster Comograph.” Yea I know it seems like a minor detail, but to well versed collectors, it obviously will make all the difference. Head over to Perpetuelle for a closer look at this rare — and not for the faint of heart — watch
